Halos in the Rain 12/5/24

ozone and diesel fumes the click of high heels echoing from the empty shops across the street streetlights ringed by halos of rain a hint of aftershave lingering along with the touch of lips warm and soft and salt crying a goodbye Head defiantly held walking in the wet and wind avant-garde styled hair losing a valiant fight primal patterns of streaked mascara a night of loss and recklessness A small café an oasis for those alone an even smaller table and a misted window playing with the flame of a single candle fingers yearning, daring to be burned A pickup line, deeper than most a long cool look a man embodying flame feeling the world tilting, not caring words than imply far more than spoken Would you like to share my table?

her knees sunk deep in your mind, above her only sky 12/6/24

she came into your life to escape her own wearing beads in her hair and poetry in her eyes she was a priestess life her cathedral all soft curves and hard opinions health and environment and how can you eat animals her knees sunk deep in your mind above her only sky she makes love to life with enough left over for you you say  I love you she says  live for now, live for you don't let life pass by unnoticed she ignited a fire inside and you fear losing the ember so you hold on with all your might eventually driving her away in leaving she says  I love you life is simple now and something to worship you pray for the earth as you think back to those sweet days now you have your own disciple she says  I love you and you say live for now, live for you

Bronwyn, Ren Fair, Southern California 12/7/24

It was hot, too expensive and you didn't want to go not alone anyway renaissance fair in late May everyone sweating dressed to doublets and kilts except for a dancing flame wearing bell bottoms and low slung swaying hips she was willowy and tall parading bare feet all the adornment needed with eyes the color of poetry possessing a hawks' way of seeing into your heart and into your mind a new dance beginning with joyous first steps you bump into her by design with a smile like the sun she grabs your hand two hours later waking from a daze, laughing sharing a giant turkey leg and mead she's wiggling pelvic bones to get more comfortable on your lap and you realize this is the same dance as you wipe grease from cleft of her chin
