And She Hugged Him Tightly

And She Hugged Him Tightly

She hugged him so tightly
the air between them turned to mist

and in the mist rose words unspoken
of love and hate, desire and need

words of lust and betrayal, happiness and pain
dissolving into mist once spoken

leaving behind a yearning for life
and the courage to seek her own fate

as hope closed down around her face
slowly drowning from the
weight of past mistakes

taking a last breath before exhaling
all the sin she carried for others in her soul

never knowing if she would wake
forever changed

or crippled and bent
by the weight of the world

one last thought
they can never hurt her again

  1. Very beautiful and sad. The last two lines made me cry

    1. I think change is not found with trumpets and fanfare but with blood and tears. Freedom is a two edged sword and found sheathed in the fear of being alive. You found your freedom but almost paid to dear a cost and you are not alone when that moment comes. I know your pain because I to held that sword and knew not whether it faced outward or was pointed at my heart.
